There are some prerequisite steps we would suggest you complete before you begin with the process:
Connect your Raiser's Edge with the Almabase platform
Firstly, you need to connect your Raiser's Edge with Almabase. You can refer to this article to know how to do it: Connect your RE to Almabase
Once this is done, go to domain/admin/sync-settings. For example: if your domain is alumni.abc.org, then enter alumni.abc.org/admin/site-settings in the search bar. It will take you to the Sync-Settings page.
You should be able to see your RE account in the 'Select Database operation' list.
Keep the List-Id Ready - You will require a List-Id that consists of all the records that you want to pull from your RE to Almabase. You can refer to this video to know how to create a constituents list in your RE and get its Id.
Let's begin the Data Pull Process
Step 1 - Choose your connection in Sync-settings
In the Sync settings, choose your RE account in the field 'Select database operations. It will show a green mark once it is successfully connected.
Step 2 - Click on Retrieve Data Structure
In this step, the platform will retrieve the data structure present on your RE database and maps the basic information, contact, education, and employment details to Almabase's record structure.
This step might take some minutes to complete.
Step 3 - Click on 'Select Fields to Sync'
Now apart from the basic fields, you might want to pull some additional fields from your Raiser's Edge to the Almabase profile structure.
For example, You have a custom field called 'Sports' in your RE and you want to pull it into AB.
You will find the list of all custom fields present in your RE, in this step. Basic fields will be grayed out by default.
Just scroll down and select the additional fields you want to pull. Once done, click on 'Proceed with Selection'.
You can refer to this article to get more information about what are custom fields.
Note: It is not mandatory to choose custom fields. You can click on proceed without choosing custom fields if you think it's not required.
Step 5 - Review Data Structure
Click on 'Review Data Structure' and the system will pick one sample record from your RE and show how a profile structure will look once pulled in the Almabase.
Check the profile and if everything looks good, we are good to go with initiating the bulk data pull.
Note: You can also choose the sample record that you want to pull by clicking on 'Change Record' and add the Cons Id of the record, in the Review tab.
Step 6 - Pull Data to Almabase
This is the final stage where you begin the bulk data pulling using the List-Id you have created.
How to do it?
Click on the button ' Pull Data to Almabase' and a box will pop up to enter the list Id.
List-Id is a string that consists of some numerals and alphabets. You need to pick a specific portion from the List-Id link and paste it into the List-Id field.
Check out the video below to see how to do it:
Once you enter the List-Id and click on 'Pull Data to Almabase' and the Data pull has begun!
